12 of the care homes are located in Scotland.  The homes will continue to be operated under sale and leaseback arrangement.

Gary Walton, who brokered and advised on the transaction commented ‘there is still a strong appetite from financial institutions to invest in the sector due the strong demographic profile coupled with the relatively long lease lengths (on an upward only basis), which are available and which are generally no longer on offer in the traditional commercial property sectors.

That said the care market in my opinion has historically lagged behind the general property market which to reacts quicker to external factors such as Brexit.  So it will be interesting to see how the market reacts as we move towards the later stages of Brexit or indeed another general election.’
