Over 350 delegates from the private and public sector came together at MurrayField Stadium on the 23rd and 24th of March to discuss the various issues affecting the sector.

Gary Walton, from Walton HPC presented on how the market evolved over the last 10 years and what does the future hold for the sector.

Gary commented during the presentation 'we are still talking about the same issues that were affecting us 10 years ago; ageing population, lack of development and funding constraints. However there are other factors which will also put even more pressure on the care home stock; a greater number of people are living alone and in the last 30 years Scotland has seen a continual increase in net migration, with just under 22,000 people coming into Scotland in 2009. This was the largest increase for over 50 years'.
